I do almost all of my sketching with a Sanford Sharpie ultra fine point marker. Not only does it not smear over time, but I think it also helps with the spontaneity; I too often see people "sketching", laboring over each line and trying to make it look "perfect". A sketch should be quick and fluid, to set down an idea; one should save the perfectionism for finished pieces. That said, you will see some pieces in here that are not just Sharpie; in these cases I was practicing an idea, playing around, or just had no other place to put the picture. All in all, this section is for work that is not at a level that could be called "finished". On one hand, that makes the section kind of embarrasing; on the other hand, however, I think it's kind of exciting to show some things that just don't have a place in any of my "portfolio" areas. |
